Caliper Brakes type SHI are used as holding and emergency stop brake, installed on output shaft connected drive components such as the flange of hoist rope drums or the idler pulley of a conveyor belt.

They serve to protect the drive e.g. in case of gear box failure.

Emergency stop brakes for heavy duty operation and coasting. Ideal for hoists on container cranes and casting cranes, for large belt conveyor systems, cable cars, etc.

The SHI series brakes consist of two independent halves with facing spring packages and hydraulic cylinders. The brake shoes are supported by parallel key which absorbs the braking force.

The brake shoes with linings are hydraulically retracted from the disc during opening of the brakes.

The brakes can be used horizontally or vertically, predominantly as an emergency brake.
